Soulbane Uniform: His torso is enveloped in a special skin-tight polymer fabric called Skinweave, having been developed by Atlantean scientists for battlefield usage. It allows for unrestricted movement and is bulletproof to an extent. Once applied, the polymer hardens to absorb impact and will deflect some bit of gunfire, leaving only bruises, yet it can be penetrated by even a simple knife. The black Skinweave layer is long sleeved, embraces the entire torso, and will protect the kneck. Over this, Nikko dons a standard black jacket where 'N. Jaeger' is printed in white on the front of the right shoulder and the large symbol of Soulbane is upon the back. His pants are simple, black cargo pants that contain various supplies and boasts dual Soulbane insignias on the outerside of both legs. He wears silver dog tags around his neck and black combat boots with this uniform. Nikko wears a set of high-powered goggles that allow for night vision, thermographing, and a long-distance scope that is capable of zooming in and capturing pictures to be transmitted back to headquarters. By design of the Atlantean scientists, Nikko is testing optical camouflage equipment. His belt is equipped with a special device that utilizes nanotechnology to bend light around everything in contact with the belt. By doing this, the belt will make whomever is wearing it blend into the surrounding environment. At a distance, it would be impossible to tell, but up close someone might notice a slight blur to the environment. After firing a shot, the belt is disrupted for a single second. When walking or running, the belt has a great bit of disturbance and is mostly used only when Nikko is in a sniper nest. After one hour of consecutive use, the belt has to power down and recharge for roughly twenty minutes. He rarely carries the NICW, but always has his Pistol. Nikko generally carries both Sniper Rifles with him and has them slung over either shoulder. Thankfully, the belt's Optical Camouflage capabilities can wrap around the rifles to better hide himself. The Jaeger family is currently a little scrambled. Troy Jaeger disappeared sometime after Nikko left home. The three boys are incredibly close and are making an honest effort to come out from the tribulations of their past. Glory Days Nikko was the eldest born into what was to become a large family. He was born into a big house located in the City of Atlantis with loving parents who had a hidden fortune. At age one, Nikko's younger sister Jasmine was born. He had grown immensely close with his sister over time and never spent a minute away from her. The Jaeger family was doing well in status. He was the ideal son of a well known family, and he was only an infant. When Nikko was three, his twin brother and sister, Vance and Natalie, were born. Their arrival was welcomed and the four Jaeger children spent most of their time together. Despite being surprisingly quiet, they were constantly at play. At this time, Nikko's father was at the peak of his career and his mother spent constant time with her children. They were a picture perfect family. Life stayed this way until Nikko was ten years old. The Jaeger family were out at a glorious festival, and seven-year-old Natalie had been kidnapped. After his sister's disappearance, Nikko blamed himself and became incredibly protective over Jasmine and Vance. Nikko had turned into an emotional wreck after Natalie's kidnapping, and believes her to be deceased now. He was very close to his siblings, and one of his best friends had been taken from him. Once Nikko had gotten back on his feet a year later, he tried to look on the brighter side of life. He was now eleven and doing better then ever. He was bringing home perfect grades, excelling in athletics, and was a delight to everyone. Nikko's twelth year brought the birth of another Jaeger, a healthy boy named Irvine. Nikko's mother passed away during child-birth, and the Jaeger house-hold was on the rocks yet again. Nikko's father became angry and resentful of Irvine, but managed to live with him tried the best he could to be a father and provide for his children. Life returned to be as normal as it possibly could without a mother. For the next two years, Nikko still watched his siblings closely to prevent harm from them. At age fourteen, Jasmine under came a potent disease that was incurable at that time. She was restricted to bed and wasn't allowed to leave. Nikko, Vance and Irvine spent all of their time with their sister as their father tried their hardest to find a cure; money was not an option. Days later, Jasmine was pronounced dead. This event shook up the Jaeger family further, as both daughters had been removed from the family. Afraid of losing Vance and Irvine, Nikko was constantly seen with his younger brothers. He developed a fear of loss after losing his mother and younger sister and was in a mindset to protect his brothers from anything. Life went back on course, and it seemed as all was well. When Nikko turned eighteen, he enrolled in the Atlantean military. His sharp shooting skills were quickly noticed and he climbed the ranks. Nikko's father was bitter at this time and now an alcoholic. His resent of Irvine drove him to kicking the six year-old boy out of the house. Now graduated from school with top grades and a proud soldier, Nikko was old enough to make his own decisions. Vance, now sixteen, had moved into a boarding school to get away from Troy. Having nothing to lose, Nikko took Irvine and left the Jaeger estate to raise his brother. He was eager for a fresh start. The two Jaeger's became inseparable. Nikko continued to climb ranks in the military and his sniper skills were recognized by Reika Savent, commanding officer of the Soulbane squadron and General of the entire Atlantean military. After passing a series of intense trials and undergoing a series of intense training, he was made Soulbane's Sniper and Reconnaissance Expert. Nikko was intent on raising his brother right and making a good new start for them. So far, he was on the right track. Nikko participated in the search and rescue mission after General Savent's emergency beacon had signaled back to Atlantis. Under Masaru Ietsuna's command, members of Soulbane combined forces with elements of the Atlantean Royal Air Force. As the search-and-rescue fleet arrived and sped towards the planet, they were here attacked by an unidentified enemy fleet in orbit. While the fleet moved to engage, Nikko, two members of Soulbane (including Masaru), and an emergency team sped past the ensuing gunfire and down planetside, destroying a number of small arms fighters and several infantry on the ground before rescuing Reika's fallen strike team. While Reika was sent back to safety, Masaru and Nikko helped direct the fleet in combat above the planet. Several lucky maneuvers resulted in the neutralization of the enemy fleet's heavy guns and the capture of one of their smaller vessels during the battle. The opposing force called for retreat and their mission was declared a success. As the foe made their escape, Nikko came to Reika's side with Masaru in the medical ward. She was alive, but in extreme shock, and Masaru made an order to put her in stasis until she could receive proper treatment at the capital. While Queen Sariol ordered Reika be restored, Masaru, who was Second in Command of Soulbane, took control of the squad. As a new General was announced to the public, Masaru had seemed to disappear without a trace. Being the highest ranking member of Soulbane remaining, Nikko was elected the new leader. Months later, Reika had made a recovery and was stationed at a local military base so that she could be watched closely. Nikko continued to lead Soulbane, until Reika finally demanded her identity and memories back. Relieved to have her back, Nikko gladly stepped down and returned the position to his deserving friend. Nikko was nineteen now, and his sixteen year old brother Vance visited him unexpectedly. Vance missed his siblings and wanted to live with Nikko and Irvine again. Nikko, whom had a decent-sized apartment on the base, gladly took his brother in. He continued to look after the two of them until duty called Nikko off to war with Soulbane. During his absence, Vance watched Irvine and their needs were taken care of at the military base. History

Parts of Masa's childhood is not entirely known. Officially, Masaru was born an average Atlantean, and lived an average lifestyle for the first ten years of his life. He was a bit of a frail boy, not the best physically. However, he made up for that as a bright child who questioned everything at least once in his life, becoming a bit of a bookworm/knowledge-seeker even in his young age when he found he could not get an answer from his peers. This affected him slightly as a child, making him opt towards libraries, bookstores and the like in order to further himself (although this generally made him reclusive in his youth, to his family's dismay.)

Ten years into his life, things seemed to be going awry in the Darkcloud family. His mother Haruka had seemed to be stressed out more often than not. While he did pick up this, he could not place why exactly this was happening, as his father was a rather kind man, and he was unaware of any domestic problems. He decided to himself that he would find a way to cheer her up.

Unfortunately, this opportunity never came to the young boy. Masaru would return home from school one day to find the front door wide open. As he entered, he would find himself witness to a rather devastating scene. Someone had invaded his home and mercilessly attacked his father, the Atlantean on the floor, partially dismembered and covered with blood, unmoving. To the other side, he saw a figure threatening his seemingly-injured mother with some weapon he could not identify. Unsure what to do, the young child simply cried out for his mother, moving towards her instinctively. The figure turned around, recognizing his presence...and everything started to fade to black....

The next time Masaru would wake up would be in the hands of the local authorities. The youth was in a bit of a daze. He didn't know where he was, and he wasn't quite sure what had happened. The authorities had attempted to ask him what had happened, and he remained silent, unsure. They kept asking multiple questions, until he eventually spoke the words, "...I don't know...I don't remember." As far as they could tell, Masaru might have stumbled onto the scene of the event, and the trauma might have caused him to repress his memories. Whatever the case was, they had informed him that his father had died, and his mother had suffered severe shock, and fell into a coma.

While allowing the boy to mourn, they realized through record checks that Masa didn't seem to have any close relatives or family friends, so they temporarily placed him in the care of a foster home until his closest living relatives could be found. Masa, however, found himself instantly distant from the children in the home, the boy's anti-social demeanor putting a dampener on contact from the children, who would taunt and harass him at times when he would ignore them. This developed over time to a peak where the boy had had enough, and ran away from the foster home, returning to his own home long enough to gather up some of his prized possessions, then fled.

Unable to find solace in an empty home and an unhappy foster family, Masaru found himself with little choice but to live on the street. It was hard for him, but he had eventually forced himself to cope with the lifestyle, scrounging, stealing, and hiding, only able to find happiness in the books that made up his life in the months prior. After spending some weeks as a street urchin, he was found by an Atlantean who called himself Kimbros. After an awkward time of talk, the man offered the boy a home. Reluctantly...rather, wary, especially after his encounter with the original foster family, the boy accepted, and was taken in alongside the man's two daughters, Sariol and Sandra.

During his stay with this new family, Masaru found it wasn't what he had feared; instead of abusive host-siblings, his older step-sister had been kind. He learned to help take care of his younger step-sister Sandra, and found a bit of a bond in his elder sister. She played a part in getting Masaru to be a little less anti-social (somewhat), as well as getting him to be less and less defiant, which he would come to be grateful for. In time, eventually would come another addition to the family, a Lemurian elf named Derek, who, although he wasn't his favorite step-brother, he was still family none-the-less.

As time passed, when Masaru reached his fourteenth year, Masa found a number of occurences in his life in a short time. The youth was not so much anti-social as he used to be, but he was still somewhat the timid little boy he used to be as a child. In a short span of time, he had made a number of friends in Atlantis (including the late Drake of the Atlantean throne before Sariol took over), a couple of rivals, and one or two enemies here or there. He also somehow managed to fall in love. However, he had found something to be missing in his life. It seemed to come up in front of his face when a young woman about his age walked up to him one day and pulled him aside, asking if he wished to join an elite force. Initially skeptical, Masaru rejected...only to find the girl was rather persistent in trying to get him to join to better himself. When he realized she was being absolutely genuine (and seemed to have the approval of Sariol herself), Masa reluctantly caved and entered into Atlantis' elite military squadron, Soulbane.

Within a couple of weeks, Soulbane had gotten an emergency distress signal from a beacon implant from General Reika, who was on temporary leave to work a job with an inter-planetary enforcement group on another planet. With the Queen's support, Masa and other members of Soulbane attached themselves to a full fledged rescue team with elements of the Atlantean Royal Air Force. As the search-and-rescue fleet arrived and sped towards the planet, they were here attacked by an unidentified enemy fleet in orbit. While the fleet moved to engage, Masaru, two comrades (including fellow Soulbane member Nikko Jaeger) and an emergency team sped past the ensuing gunfire and down planetside, destroying a number of small arms fighters and several infantry on the ground before rescuing Reika's fallen strike team.

While Reika was sent back to safety, Masa and Nikko helped direct the fleet in combat above the planet. While Sariol ordered Reika be restored, Masa took temporary command of the Soulbane, primarily waiting for either Reika to return for duty or for a replacement to hold the fort. He never got to hear this decision. By the time Reika was 'replaced', Masaru had suddenly disappeared, without a trace.
